Tribute

Bobby Phills -- December 20, 1969-January 12, 2000
Malik Sealy -- February 1, 1970-May 20, 2000

Not a day goes by that I don't think about Bobby and Malik. I still wonder why God took two irreplaceable men so early. Bobby was a great humanitarian and Malik was brilliant as the egotistic Stacy Patton in the movie "Eddie". Thank you, Bobby and Malik, for making this world--and the NBA--a little better. I swear on the soul of Illinois senator Richard Durbin that I will remember you two every day until my dying day, when I will have the highest honor of meeting you two in heaven.

I have this webpage so that people will never forget the lives of Bobby Phills and Malik Sealy. I think the best song to eulogize these fallen NBA players would be "Tears In Heaven", which Eric Clapton wrote in tribute to his son. The MIDI can be heard in the background.

(instrumental intro)

Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven?
Would you feel the same if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven.

(instrumental break)

Would you hold my hand if I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand if I saw you in heaven?
I'll find my way through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven.

(instrumental break)

Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees,
Time can break your heart, have you begging "please"... begging "please".

(instrumental break)

Beyond the door, there's peace I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven.

(instrumental break)

Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven?
Would you feel the same if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven.
